Overview
Your Inner Critic, most simply put, uses all of your patterns, negative beliefs you have about yourself, and all of the negative voices that you heard throughout childhood – from parents, and surrogates.
Your Inner Critic is the internalised negative voice that says things like:
- ‘It was a great weekend course. but what difference will it make?’
- ‘Look at how happy they are! You can’t be happy like that, so don’t even try’
- ‘You’ll never be good enough’
- ‘Look what you’ve done again, always getting it wrong ’
- ‘Who do you think you are?’
However, it’s not who you are. It’s a parasite on your Intellect, trying to pull you away from who you really are, your authenticity, your Spiritual Self.
How you faced and dealt with it on The Essentials
You talked about its impact, drew its face, and wrote all its negative messages all over it. Then you stamped on the drawing and messages, and made as much noise as you could. After that, you took your turn in speaking out ‘One thing my Inner Critic told me was…… But that’s a lie’ followed by one quality of your Spiritual Self ‘I am…..’.
How to de-energise your Inner Critic
With practice, you’ll be able to separate your Inner Critic’s voice from our own, and diminish its hold.
Stamping on your Inner Critic is a quick way to de-energise it.
- Close your eyes and imagine your Inner Critic’s voice coming in your left ear.
- Then turn your head and see it on your left shoulder. See its ugly facial expression.
- Then reach up with both hands and grab it round its neck.
- Hold it tight, then pull it out of your shoulder and throw it on the floor.
- Stamp on it and shout at it.
- Then feel a beam of Light coming into your left shoulder and spreading through your body.
- Connect to your Spiritual Self.
And, if your Inner Critic gets particularly intrusive, repeat the experience of drawing it and all that followed that you had on the weekend.
