We need to grieve.
When we give ourselves time and space to slow down and turn towards loss, we enter the territory of the Soul. Here, grief becomes a pathway to healing, restoring vitality and improving emotional and spiritual wellbeing. In processing our grief, we experience a deeper wisdom, compassion and connection with others.
Avoiding grief can lead to anxiety, depression, loneliness or harmful coping mechanisms. We need to feel safe enough to grieve, to know we can tolerate the pain. In this workshop we’ll build the capacity to be with vulnerability, to hold ourselves with tenderness as we explore and process our grief.
From loss to love
Loss touches every life. It may come through bereavement, the end of a relationship, the loss of hopes and dreams, children leaving home, the death of a beloved pet, or as a response to the suffering in our world. However it arises, grief is not here to close us down but to open us wider to soften us into compassion, to guide us back to joy.
When we express our grief together with others, a precious intimacy can grow which will help us mourn and heal. Together, we will create a safe, nurturing space to journey in this sacred terrain through shared reflection, writing, movement and ritual, to honour our losses and reconnect with our capacity for love and gratitude.
‘The work of the mature person is to carry grief in one hand and gratitude in the other, and to be stretched large by them’ – Francis Weller
