'Through various encounters with therapists, I’d heard the word ‘boundaries’ thrown around a million times, but I didn’t really know what they looked like or how to achieve them. That was true for so many sayings I’d heard, such as ‘learn to let go’ or ‘you need to love yourself first’. I understood them on an intellectual level, but they just left me with a frustrated feeling of; ‘Yes, but how?!’

Hoffman gave me a glimpse of what it feels like to actually embody some of those sayings. Since doing the Process, feeling 100% authentically happy has felt achievable. There’s something about being able to picture and remember what that felt like during the Process which has enabled me to know instinctively ‘how’.

That’s not to say I don’t still mess up, feel the pain and get lost a lot of the time, but at least I know it’s possible to get there, because I’ve felt it. I know what happy looks like now.'

In the 1980s, Dylan Jones was one of the first editors of i-D, before becoming a Contributing Editor of The Face and then the editor of Arena.

Dylan's new book, Shiny and New, frames that decade through some of its most important and popular hits, choosing records which either epitomised their time, or ushered in a new cultural shift. Through ten defining singles - one from each year - of the decade, it attempts to weave together the stories, the songs and events that re-shaped music and society. You can read a sneak preview (and find the playlist) here.

And if you haven't read the wonderful Hoffman Process article 'Seven Days to Change a Lifetime' that Dylan wrote for GQ magazine in his time as its editor, that's well worth a look too. You can find it here.

We featured Cally Beaton's fabulous podcast series Namaste Motherf*ckers in our June Newsletter, when she was interviewing broadcaster and author Emily Dean and things took an odd Hoffman turn. If you missed that episode, you can find it here.

Last month saw our very own Director and Facilitator Serena Gordon step up for an interview with comedian and Hoffman graduate Cally. In the July 19th episode 'They Fuck You Up, Your Mum & Dad', the pair chat about about 'childhood, reinvention, wellbeing, teenage pin-ups, parenting, Piers Brosnan, fame, healing, mind, body and soul.' And potentially offend the Daily Mail...

If you're interested in signing up to a Hoffman Process later in the year, our friendly enrolment team is available on the phone or via email, and happy to answer any questions you might have.

A one-to-one assessment call gives you time to discuss what happens on the course in detail, and also to decide whether it's right for you. If you do then go on to register, you're already a step ahead! The calls are completely confidential, and you don't need to have registered for a course to book an appointment.

Call us on 01903 88 99 90 or email enrolment@hoffmaninstitute.co.uk and we'll take it from there.
The Hoffman Process at Florence House is open for bookings. We have reduced the number of places on each course to 18 participants, allowing for appropriate social distancing and single accommodation for all attendees. There have been some practical modifications made to the course logistics to ensure health and safety guidelines are adhered to; other than that, the Hoffman Process content remains the same. Our courses are filling up fast, so early registration is advised.
