1. Do you need to have tried therapy before undertaking the Hoffman Process?

No. The Hoffman Process is open to all, offering people rapid emotional healing and spiritual growth, as well as the ability to recognise persistent negative behaviours, moods and attitudes. Though some of participants will have undertaken therapy, it certainly isn't a prerequisite. All participants are given a thorough screening to ensure that The Hoffman Process is the right personal development course for them. The Hoffman staff are able to recommend alternatives should someone be advised that the Process is not for them. Under these circumstances any deposit will be refunded.

6. Where does the Process take place and when?

There are currently two locations used in England and Ireland:  Florence House, Seaford, East Sussex which is approx 1 hour from Gatwick Airport.  In Ireland we use Ardenode Country House Ballymore Eustace, Co. Kildare. Both provide a secluded, comfortable retreat space with excellent food and beautiful views. The Process runs from Friday 9am to Friday 2pm.   If you're travelling a long distance we recommend staying the night before at the venue. We also advise that people keep the weekend following the Process as a time of retreat.  Please visit the Calendar page for dates.

17. Is Mindfulness part of the Hoffman philosophy?

Mindfulness is a state usually gained through taking regular quiet time to be still and meditate. It enables us to focus on one task at a time and to be fully present to our life and our relationships. People who regularly practice it report lower stress levels and a more positive outlook. This is very in keeping with the aims of the Hoffman Process which encourages you to spend regular time being still and self-aware. We encourage you to check in with yourself daily and to develop an inner sanctuary of calm. Process graduates frequently report a much greater appreciation of their relationships, of the natural world and a greater ability to cope with pressure.

18. Does CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) play a role in the Hoffman Process?

CBT has been developed through a merging of behavioural therapy with cognitive therapy and aims to make us aware of beliefs and assumptions which may be unhelpful or unrealistic so that we are able to change our reactions. One of the key aspects of the Hoffman Process, even in the Pre Course work, is to raise our awareness of the negative beliefs we carry as a result of family patterns and childhood experiences, so that we can choose new behaviour. Read a debate on this subject by Hoffman graduates Oliver James and Derek Draper.

19. Is the Hoffman Process a cult?

The Hoffman Process is the exact opposite of a cult. A cult aims to separate you from society but the aim of the Hoffman Process is to teach you how to better integrate yourself with society and your loved ones when you return to them after the Process.
