"What we plant in the soil of contemplation, we shall reap in the harvest of action".
Meister Eckhart

With so much negativity around here's something to lift your spirits. Our eternally upbeat Hoffman Teacher Simon Matthews shares his top tips for regaining self-esteem and reminding yourself just who is in the driving seat of your life:
  • Awareness
Take an honest look at your life.
How much is your sense of self-worth linked to your job or role?
What are your core values - what's really important to you?
What ambitions or dreams do you have that aren't yet realised?
To what extent have you been leading a life that isn't true to your inner desires?
  • Expression
Recession and loss of work can bring up difficult feelings. It's important that these can be expressed and aren't bottled up and suppressed. Make sure you share what's going on inside you with your partner, close family or friends.
Counselling or Psychotherapy can offer valuable support and physical exercise is known to be very effective in relieving stress and depression.
  • Forgiveness
Many people have a strong inner critic who tells them destructive messages in difficult times: "you deserve this", "it's all your fault", "these things always happen to you". Take time to recognise this inner saboteur for what it is and be gentle with yourself. Forgive yourself for what's happened and don't beat yourself up.
  • New beginnings
Sit down somewhere quiet with a pen and paper and ask yourself "What would I like for my life if I could have it any way I want it?" Take off the limits and allow yourself to dream. Think about how you'd like to be with yourself, with others in your life and what work you'd really like to do and how and where you'd like to live. Then write it down as if it's happening right now and commit to this dream. Knowing what you really want is the first step to achieving it.

  • Radio Interview with Radio Europe

Take an early lunch and listen live on your computer. Use the link below and click the tab top right called 'Listen Now'. If you don't have the right plug in for your computer just leave yourself a minute or two to download it.

Following the great popularity of this with Hoffman Graduates in the States, our UK Teachers are now offering Phone Support Groups.

Starting on Wednesday November 5th, these calls will be one hour support groups led by Hoffman Teacher, Esme Page. Fun and interactive, they're an opportunity for connection and for applying the tools in the potentially stressful pre-Xmas run-up. With a maximum of 12 graduates on each call to you'll get plenty of individual attention. Upcoming calls are:

November 5th: pre-cycling in readiness for those apparently predictable stressful situations as our calendar and to-do list begins to fill - re-write your pre- Xmas script!
December 3rd: transference in advance of family reunions
January 7th: creating my vision for the year ahead

    Booking
Booking onto the calls in advance is possible up to 24 hours beforehand using the link below. After that the call is closed. All details of dates and how to pay are on the Hoffman Graduate support site.
