As our thoughts turn to the holiday season, we start thinking more about home and home comforts. Whether we had a conventional home or an alternative home, our expectations and habits came from the world we experienced when we were young. Some of us are lucky enough to associate home with good cooking, others prefer to leave it to the professionals...

Cooking up a storm...

James Villiers on Masterchef
We're in awe of the courage shown by Hoffman Graduate James Villiers as he takes centre stage (and centre in this photo) in the new series of MasterChef: the Professionals

James challenged himself by agreeing to take part; "This year I turned a corner and what better way to get over the cycle of fear of being judged and criticised than to do what I do best and go on the well known TV show? This whole experience has made me stronger and more confident and has changed me. My Hoffman work has played more this year than any other, so I want to say thank you."

We can watch James showing his expertise on BBC2 this Tuesday 8 November at 8pm. You can taste the real thing at The Ginger Dog restaurant in Brighton where James currently works. Lots of Hoffman energy coming your way, James!

You can read more here and follow James on twitter #BIGJIM

Home from home?

What does it mean for a ten-year-old boy, barely four foot tall, to leave home?

In the same way that we form habitual behaviours in response to our family, we may also do so in reaction to an institution that has played a significant role in our upbringing, such as a children's home, a religious community or a boarding school.

This month, Michael Freeman describes his personal story of boarding school and how the Hoffman Process helped him integrate its legacy. Thank you Michael for sharing your story with us.
